Ytech has begun demolition at 1428 Brickell, where it is planning a 71-story solar-powered luxury residential tower.
The demolition announcement comes days after plans were filed with the FAA to install two tower cranes for construction, each rising over 1000 feet.
The developer said it has hired experts with experience in high-density urban cores such as New York City to oversee the demolition process.
John Moriarty & Associates is the demolition contractor for the 100,000 square foot office building on the site, which is now vacant.
Plans include 500 photovoltaic-integrated windows to generate electricity.
Three levels of amenities spanning 80,000 square feet are planned at the top of the tower, 860 feet in the sky.
Completion is planned in 2027.
