1428 Brickell Receives Green Light for 1000-Foot Cranes

April 5, 2024

Exciting developments are underway at the future site of the 1428 Brickell residential tower in Miami's vibrant Brickell neighborhood. The Federal Aviation Administration has recently granted approval for the installation of two towering construction cranes, marking a significant milestone for the project.

The 71-story solar-powered 1428 Brickell tower will be the focal point of this ambitious undertaking, and the approved cranes will play a vital role in its construction. Both cranes have been authorized to reach an impressive height of 1,001 feet above ground level, or 1,010 feet above sea level.

These cranes, although temporary, are expected to remain in place for approximately 19 months, facilitating the construction process. Once completed, the 1428 Brickell condo tower will stand at a permanent height of 861 feet above ground, positioning it among the tallest residential buildings in Miami.

Highlighting the project's commitment to sustainability, the developer proudly claims that the 189-unit luxury building will be the world's first residential high-rise partially powered by solar energy. Equipped with 500 photovoltaic-integrated windows, the tower aims to showcase the fusion of innovative design and eco-conscious practices.

The transformation of the site has already commenced, with demolition work underway on a 100,000 square foot office building that previously occupied the location. Concurrently, various construction permits, including those for demolition, site work, and full vertical permits, are currently being processed by Miami's Building Department. It is anticipated that a total demolition permit will be issued in the near future.

John Moriarty, a reputable contractor, has been listed as the contractor for both the site work and vertical permits, instilling further confidence in the project's execution.

Completion of the 1428 Brickell tower is planned for 2027, promising a remarkable addition to Miami's skyline. As the cranes prepare to ascend to great heights, the approval signifies progress and sets the stage for the realization of this extraordinary residential development.
