Coral Gables-based Shoma Group recently broke ground on Shoma Bay, a multi-use skyscraper located in North Bay Village at 1850 79th Street Causeway. This impressive 24-story project will house 333 waterfront apartments, a 3,250-square-foot Publix grocery store and a 1,450-square-foot retail space that will include the Shoma Bazaar food hall and a rooftop lounge.
In 2021, Shoma Group acquired the property for US$15.78 million. North Bay Village is experiencing a wave of building development, with companies like Related Group and Sunbeam Properties seeking out sites for revitalization.
“We are delighted to begin construction on Shoma Bay, a development that represents our dedication to delivering exceptional residential experiences,” said Masoud Shojaee, CEO and President of Shoma Group.
The amenities offered by Shoma Bay will be truly remarkable. Residents will have access to a residents' lounge and bar, a spa, a hammam, golf simulators, a well-equipped gym with Technogym equipment, a pet spa and a kids' club. Additionally, a 560-square-foot pool deck will offer panoramic views of Biscayne Bay, with a pool, pergolas and summer kitchen. The development will also feature a library, a 250 square meter coworking business lounge, a lounge with a coffee bar and dedicated spaces for games and cinema. Reserved closed parking, electric vehicle charging stations, an individual bike rack and storage spaces will also be available.
In Shoma Bay monthly rentals are permitted, short-term rentals will not be permitted. The project is expected to be completed in 2026, with Miami-based Civic Construction as general contractor and MSA Architects as designer. Shoma Group is currently financing the construction itself.
“At Shoma Group, we meticulously design each development with future residents in mind, to ensure that every detail enhances their comfort and enriches their lifestyle,” commented Stephanie Shojaee.
Shoma Group leaders Masoud and Stephanie Shojaee announced their intention to live in one of the ten penthouses. Shoma Bay sales launch in 2022, with starting prices starting at US$400,000. The size of the apartments varies from 32 to 250 square meters.
