Mercedes Benz Places in Brickell Begins Construction of Second Tower

December 20, 2024

The highly anticipated second tower at Mercedes Benz Places in Brickell has officially broken ground. Following the foundation work for the first tower, construction of the second tower began on September 16, 2024. The new tower will rise to 763 feet, slightly shorter than the first tower’s planned 780 feet, as specified in documents submitted to the county in July.

The Mercedes Benz Places project will bring a blend of luxury and functionality to Brickell, featuring 200 hotel units, over 142,000 square feet of commercial space, 153,070 square feet of office area, 1,010 residential units, and nearly 39,000 square feet dedicated to governmental use. Led by JDS Development Group with architecture by ODP, the development is generating significant community interest and mixed opinions.

Residents are divided, with some eager about the luxury offerings and others concerned about the lack of waterfront proximity. Discussions about renaming 2nd Avenue to "Park Avenue" and adding public spaces further highlight the development's impact on Brickell's evolving landscape.
